Jamaica shines at World Travel Awards

Jamaica emerged as a multiple winner at the World Travel Awards, picking up trophies for ‘Caribbean’s Leading Destination’, ‘Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Destination’ and ‘Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Board’.

World Travel Awards is the leading authority that recognises and rewards excellence in travel and tourism. It revealed its Caribbean and North America 2021 winners to coincide with its Caribbean and North America 2021 Winners Day.

Eclipse at Half Moon was named Caribbean’s Leading New Hotel.

“Our winners represent the very best of the Caribbean and North America’s travel and hospitality sectors and my congratulations to each of them,” said Graham Cooke, founder, World Travel Awards. “They are all playing starring roles in spearheading the global travel and tourism recovery.”

Sandals was named ‘Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Brand’, with Sandals Royal Barbados selected as the ‘Caribbean’s Leading Resort’, Sandals Grande Antigua named the ‘Caribbean’s Most Romantic Resort’ and Sandals Grenada receiving the award for ‘Caribbean’s Leading Luxury All-Inclusive Resort’. In addition, Beaches Turks & Caicos was named ‘Caribbean’s Leading All-Inclusive Family Resort’.

In other wins for Jamaica, Montego Bay’s latest arrival, Eclipse at Half Moon, picked up ‘Caribbean’s Leading New Hotel’ while Round Hill Hotel & Villas was named ‘Caribbean’s Leading Villa Resort’.

The results follow a year-long search for the world’s top travel, tourism and hospitality brands.

Votes were cast by travel industry professionals and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.
