The exquisite Cliff Hotel

From the moment you enter the warm and welcoming lobby of The Cliff Hotel in Negril’s West End, you can tell it’s going to be an exquisite experience.

The signs are everywhere: the custom-made bamboo and mahoe chandelier, the slices of authentic life captured in photographs of locals that grace an entire wall, the oversized wicker chairs painted in an elegant black that offsets their fluffy white cushions, and then there’s the breathtaking blue of the Caribbean Sea at the end of the walkway.

The view from above shows a well-planned property.

The Cliff offers only the best to the upper end of Negril’s leisure market. The original property first opened its doors in 2008 as Moon Dance at The Cliff. In 2015, with new owners who took the accommodations and service up a notch, it was rebranded as The Cliff. Since then there have been consistent upgrades at the very well-maintained five-acre property.

It shows.

“It’s what the market dictates and that’s what individuals are looking for,” says General Manager Vernon Johnson.

The Cliff offers a choice of junior suites, deluxe junior suites, and one-bedroom suites in the main building. Those accommodations are undeniably First World.

But, for the ultimate in luxury resort living that offers many of the comforts of home, there are four villas on property. All have en suite bathrooms, and each has its own unmistakable personality.

Villa 1

This 1,050-square-foot one-bedroomer is perfect for a romantic couple’s getaway. Set in its own garden, it offers stunning ocean views and extra touches, such as a secret outdoor bathtub and floor-to-ceiling patio doors that open from the bedroom onto a sun-kissed terrace.

Villa 2

It’s hard to leave after a stay at this 1,200-square-foot two-storey colonial style home. It provides the perfect balance of privacy and luxury. The beautifully designed master bedroom features a large en suite spa bathroom decked out with an oversized rain shower and freestanding bathtub.

Villa 4

This comfortably sleeps eight in its four individual suites — three deluxe bedrooms and one master suite. Each has its own keyed entrance, private balcony or patio making this the perfect choice for multi-generational families or girlfriend getaways. It effortlessly offers the privacy of an exclusive home away from home with all the amenities of a five-star boutique hotel. It’s 4,200 square feet.

Villa 5

The largest villa at The Cliff at 5,000 square feet, this classically designed space is perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies and receptions. Set within its own garden, overlooking the Caribbean Sea and only footsteps from the craggy cliffs, the gorgeous two-storey home offers spectacular ocean views from just about every corner. With an expansive, open-plan living space featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, a large seating area, formal dining table, and wet bar, there’s more than enough room inside. Guests may also enjoy the cool island breeze and breath-taking panoramas from the comfort of the villa’s large veranda.

And there’s more

For guests who can tear themselves away from the unparalleled luxury within The Cliff’s suites and villas, there’s a lot to do and see outside. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available at Zest, a stand-alone award-winning restaurant nestled on the edge of rugged cliffs. It serves up sea-to-table creations with a Caribbean flair.

And a visit to The Cliff would not be complete without experiencing the pampering performed at its KiYara spa. The word decadent comes to mind when scrolling through its menu of services that incorporate many of Jamaica’s healing herbal traditions.
