Turks and Caicos is HOT

The Turks and Caicos Islands is the world’s hottest travel destination for fall 2022, according to a new report from TripAdvisor.

Based on behavioural data and a consumer sentiment survey, the newly released report showcased the Turks and Caicos Islands having the fastest growing demand based on year over year growth – an extremely impressive feat given the Turks and Caicos Islands’ stellar performance last year.

“This is a proud moment for the entire Turks and Caicos Islands and a huge testament to the work that our tourism stakeholders are currently doing to ensure that we recover strongly from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Minister of Tourism Josephine Connolly.

“And with several significant developments in the pipeline, including a $25-million investment into the Grand Turk cruise industry, the building of a multitude of luxury properties, as well as the ground breaking of a world-class Providenciales International Airport terminal in February 2023, we are confident that we will be able to replicate these results,” she added.

The Turks and Caicos Islands beat out global tourism hotspots, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Amalfi, London, and Bangkok – and was the only Caribbean destination to make the top 15 of the world’s largest travel guidance platform’s list.

“TripAdvisor’s latest report reflects the dedication that all of our tourism stakeholders have in positioning the Turks and Caicos Islands as a leader in tourism – not only at the regional level, but at the global level as well,” said Acting Director of Tourism, Mary Lightbourne.

“This is a historic moment for the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board is committed to achieving more historic accomplishments,” Lightbourne added.

In addition, the Turks and Caicos Islands was also recently nominated for eight World Travel Awards. Of the eight awards, TCI is the reigning winner of two of them – “Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination” as well as “Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination”. This year, the World Travel Awards will host its Caribbean & The Americas Gala Ceremony in Montego Bay, Jamaica on August 31st, 2022.
