Jamaica has the best tourist board, and it has the award to prove it. The destination copped the prize at the recent TravelPulse Canada 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards. This is the third time Jamaica has won the category.

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) was in great company during the event held in downtown Toronto at Steam Whistle Brewery on May 19, with the who’s who of the Canadian travel industry gathered to celebrate the best of the best.

Air Canada picked up Airline of the Year, Sunwing won for Best Groups Department and Royal Caribbean International received the award for Best Health and Safety Protocols, Cruises.

“We are truly honoured to receive this year’s Readers’ Choice Best Tourist Board award. After a long period of trying times and continued uncertainty in front of us, it’s key for the Jamaica Tourist Board to support our agents with initiatives like Irie Hour and continue to ensure we value our Jamaica Travel Specialist advisors,” said JTB Regional Director for Canada, Angella Bennett. “The JTB has been awarded Best Tourist Board each of the three years these awards have been held. We credit this to the strong relationships we have built with agents across the country and the innovative ways our Canadian team have stepped up to support our valued advisor partners during the ongoing pandemic.”

Voting was open to all readers of TravelPulse Canada and thousands of travel agents from across the country cast their votes in 31 categories. Created in 2018, the first two editions of the awards quickly became a travel trade industry leader in recognising the outstanding achievements of industry colleagues in the Canadian market. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the awards were on hold for two years, so this year’s event was an especially momentous and special occasion. Alan Frew of Canadian band, Glass Tiger, performed at the ceremony with 300 travel industry members in attendance.

Additional awards included Best Tour Operator, Best River Cruise Company, Best Health and Safety Protocols, Hotel and Best All-Inclusive Hotel Chain.
