Ocean Cliff’s pivot pays off

The newly refurbished Ocean Cliff Hotel — the former Spa Retreat Boutique Hotel — has been attracting the attention of locals since its rebranding. Perched on the beautiful cliffs of West End, Negril, with magnificent sunsets as the main natural attraction, it has been transformed into a property that prides itself on personalised service. This has ensured that while several other properties bid us a reluctant adieu, Ocean Cliff merely paused briefly, adjusted its crown and relaunched.

“We’re offering a much more personalised service,” the hotel’s excited General Manager Heather Hamilton tells LetsTarvelCaribbean.com. “Apart from the Blue Mahoe Restaurant, our spa and our 18 stone cottages, what makes us standout amongst all other boutique hotels in Negril and in Jamaica is the unparalleled professional and friendly service that we provide.”

All at affordable prices as new rates are among the changes that guests can enjoy.

“Room rates have dropped considerably and start from $116.20 double occupancy and inclusive of continental breakfast. Guests have four room categories to choose from: seaside, rooftop or garden cottages and there is one bridal suite,” gushes Hamilton.

Then there’s the food. The farm-to-table Blue Mahoe Restaurant is open to the public and guests from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Both international and local dishes are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

As they cater to guests’ every whim, the hotel’s management makes sure everyone keeps safe. Their approach to doing business during a pandemic is noticeably cautious.

“We do not require guests to provide us with their vaccination status,” Hamilton explains. “However, upon arrival, they will be due to undergo temperature checks and that is done randomly throughout the day for the duration of their stay. We also provide antigen and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing on property from our medical providers.”

Currently, there is only one night of entertainment offered at the hotel, their Saturday night karaoke which kicked off in December 2021.

“Whether you can sing or not you are welcome to join,” Hamilton invites. “In fact, you can actually come and learn how to sing.”

She says more entertainment will be added this year. For now, there are still tonnes of fun things to do. Guests can be pampered at the spa and indulge in lip-smacking, thirst-quenching cocktails and other beverages at the bar in between dips in the warm Caribbean Sea.

Specials will be rolled out on the hotel’s website and social media pages throughout the years, so be sure to keep an eye out for great deals.
